In the year 1769
they set sail
from a large island
in the South.
They had learned
to master
the high seas
and had invented
a weapon.

After many months
on the treacherous seas,
they finally arrived
on the shores
of the Great North Land.

At first,
they merely tried
to live on the land,
but when
the hostile inhabitants
encroached,
they had no choice
but to use force,
employing
their superior weaponry
to subdue
the threatening tribes.

After their initial success,
they sent word
to their kin
back home
in the South:
‘Come and join us
in this plentiful land.’

They raised
their colours high
and named the land
Alinjarra.
