Stones

A poem compiled of lines from the last statements of 21 Texan inmates executed by lethal injection.

god, i want to say something
so bad. today you are witness
in the midst of truth in the catacombs
of justice
…………ah they create monsters in there

this is genocide in America.
be happy.
…………are you happy?
………………………………are you all happy?
When i die, bury me deep
…………don’t lie man
ironic, isn’t it? i’m a cross.

statement to what. state what.

i received your poem
…………full of isolated
…………hearts and minds
why does my heart ache
we want pleasure love and
satisfaction.             nothing less.
i wish i had a Shakespearean vocabulary.

did you get my letter?
i am                innocent        innocent        innocent
be careful before you sign
anything with your name
…………………………..you are a strong warrior queen
overwhelming and compelling
my death is just a symptom
of bigger illness
we must take it to the nation
………..give me my life back

are they already doing it?
……………………………………….you can taste it
……………………………………….can you hear me?
ok. let me rest
…………………..no endings, only beginnings
tonight i dance on the streets of gold
only the sky and the green grass goes on
…………………………………………………………………forever
let those without sin cast the first stone.
today is a good day to die.
