He is one of the world’s leading experts on non-violent resistance and has won recognition from the Peace and Justice Studies Association as their first Peace Scholar of the Year. We spoke to him about the Arab Spring, people power, the Occupy movements, and what Australians can do to help democratic movements overseas. Professor Zunes also has some very interesting things to say about former Foreign Minister Gareth Evans’ record on East Timor and human rights whilst in office.
