Kate Jama

Kate Jama is a Somali-English artist, writer and almost-lawyer working from a black-diasporic, white-passing, cis-female, queer positionality.

Kate draws upon both her experience in law and public policy, as well as her diasporic identity, to explore the relationship between the body, laws and belonging. In 2017, she curated and exhibited Borders, Walls and Belonging at Blak Dot Gallery (Naarm/ Melbourne). Her work has been presented at Kudos Gallery, the Istanbul Photobook Festival, Halka Gallery (Istanbul).
